Solid Aston Villa Blank Newcastle in 1-0 Win

Aston Villa claimed a narrow 1-0 Premier League victory over Newcastle United at St. James' Park on Saturday, 17 October 2026, in Round 7 of the season. Played under cloudy skies at 8 degrees Celsius in front of 52,626 spectators, the contest was decided by Johan Manzambi's 36th-minute header, with referee Jarred Gillett overseeing a physical, card-heavy affair. Newcastle, dominant in the odds at home, were unable to find a response as Unai Emery's well-organized Villa side held firm through a goalless second half. Manzambi's match-winning contribution earned him Player of the Match honours.
