Atlético Madrid head coach Diego Simeone appeared impatient after being drawn on the name of star striker Julián Alvarez on Saturday evening.

This comes fresh off an outing to forget for club, player and manager alike…

Atlético were back in action on the La Liga front earlier today, making the trip to Bilbao for a meeting with Athletic Club. The Rojiblancos headed into proceedings aware that a victory would have seen them leapfrog arch rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish top-flight table.

When all was said and done at San Mamés, though, Atléti were instead condemned to an alarming defeat. A disjointed display across the pitch ultimately culminated in Simeone’s troops being put to the sword by three goals to nil.

Compounding matters was the latest frosty reception afforded to the aforementioned Julián Alvarez, who was again booed and whistled by the away fans upon taking to the pitch as a substitute.

Speaking to the media post-match, Atlético’s headmaster was therefore drawn on transfer-linked Alvarez’s situation, and why the Argentine was not spotted warming down with his teammates on the pitch.

Simeone, though, was in no mood to open up, responding:

“Are you really asking this question? I have nothing to say.”
