Chelsea want a €100m Atlético Madrid star in January

A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid has made his way onto the transfer radar of Premier League outfit Chelsea.
This comes amid the Blues’ ongoing search for a replacement for Enzo Fernández. Argentine international Enzo for his part secured a last-minute move away from Stamford Bridge ahead of this week’s transfer deadline, linking up with Manchester City in a record-breaking deal.
The 25-year-old was expected to be replaced in Xabi Alonso’s squad by Lamine Camara of AS Monaco. Just when it appeared as though the transfer was on the verge of completion, however, the Monaco board pulled the plug.
Chelsea, as a result, have been left to navigate the opening half of the season without a real replacement for Enzo. The ever-active transfer team in west London, though, have already set their sights on the January window…
Not only that, but they have a new midfield target in mind, in La Liga. As per a report from Diario Sport , citing English sources:
‘The favourite player to fill the vacancy of the Argentine is Atlético Madrid’s Pablo Barrios, for whom they are willing to offer 100 million euros.’
The problem for Chelsea is that Diego Simeone and co. currently have no intention of entertaining bids for their engine room standout.
