Watch: Rodri is already running the midfield in Barcelona training

Footage which will no doubt go down a treat amongst those of a Barcelona persuasion has come to the fore on social media on Thursday.

This comes as summer signing Rodri showcases signs of his readiness to step into a starting role in Catalunya’s capital.

Midfielder Rodri of course swapped Manchester City for Barcelona earlier this month, after making clear his desire for a new challenge ahead of the expiration of his contract terms at The Etihad in 2027.

The 30-year-old has since been eased into competitive action by new manager Hansi Flick, after playing a leading role for Spain en route to World Cup glory in North America this summer.

Rodri has featured as a substitute in each of Barca’s last two La Liga fixtures.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest footage stemming from the Ciutat Esportiva is anything to go by, then it may not be at all long before the Blaugrana faithful are afforded the opportunity to see their side’s new engine room conductor in a starter’s role.

As showcased below, Rodri is beginning to ramp up his fitness in group training, already running things in midfield from his deep-lying berth:
