Bischof and Kane react to Pokal victory in Osnabrück

Here’s some early reaction from the FC Bayern camp following their DFB-Pokal first-round victory this evening.

After overcoming an early Robin Meißner wonder strike which gave the hosts the lead, goals from Harry Kane (x2), Tom Bischof and Michael Olise saw Vincent Kompany’s men eventually run out comfortable 4-1 winners, securing their place in the second round and taking another step towards retaining the DFB-Pokal.

After scoring twice and being named Player of the Match, Harry Kane praised Bayern’s performance:

“It was a good performance. It’s never easy in such an away ground and with a very good atmosphere. They started the game with an amazing goal, and we had to stay calm. I’m happy we got the win. We could’ve scored more goals in the end, we have great attacking players who can hurt teams.”

Goalscorer Tom Bischof was also pleased with Bayern’s performance:

“I thought we had the game under control, we were calm and took our chances in the first half. I’m happy we advanced, it’s never a given in such games. As far as I’m concerned, I’m always happy to start and get minutes with the boys. I’m also happy for my goal, which was important today.”

Bayern will now turn their attention towards Saturday’s Bundesliga clash, when they travel to newly promoted Schalke on Saturday evening.
