Why Sergio Busquets was at Barcelona’s training ground this week

An explanation for the presence of Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets at the club’s training base this week has come to the fore online.

This comes amid the understanding that the Spaniard is eyeing a Blaugrana return, to earn his stripes as an aspiring coach.

Busquets was a surprise face at the Ciutat Esportiva on Tuesday morning, photographed by a number of media outlets and reporters upon his arrival at the facility.

The 38-year-old, initially, was simply thought to have stopped by for a visit, maintaining a close relationship with several leading figures behind the scenes at Barca.

But as alluded to above, it has since been revealed that the trip came with a far more specific purpose in mind.

As per a report from Diario Sport :

‘The former Barça midfielder wants to start taking his first steps on the bench and has already held talks with the club to join the dynamics of Barça Atlètic.’

Busquets could act as an assistant to Juliano Belletti at reserve team level for the season ahead, to gain an understanding of the ‘day-to-day’ approach to coaching.
