HSV bosses "confident" of producing strong offer for Arsenal's Fábio Vieira

The Hanseatic club desperately wants to keep hold of the attacking midfielder who produced 7 goals and 4 assists on loan in the Bundesliga last campaign.

Hamburger SV's new sporting director Kathleen Krüger and board member Eric Huwer revealed the club is not giving up on signing Fabio Vieira.

Krüger, who made her first public appearance since her appointment to the role, and Huwer answered fans questions about the midfielder.

Huwer himself made it clear how keen they are to retain the Portuguese player, who was loaned from Arsenal FC last year.

Huwer also revealed that an initial offer had been made to the London club for the 26-year-old who had 11 goal contributions last season:

“We've kind of fallen in love with Fabio. We're fighting for him every day and have also submitted figures to Arsenal.”

However, these offers have been rejected by Hamburg, at least for now, as Huwer admitted frankly: “They're not even budging yet.”

But that's precisely what he and HSV are waiting for, and they're also counting on the player himself wanting to move to Hamburg:

“We're confident we can make Fabio a competitive offer within our means, without taking on any debt.”
