Liverpool have announced the signing of striker Victor Munoz from Osasuna.

The 22-year-old has signed a long-term contract with the Reds, reportedly a six-year deal, with the transfer subject to a successful work permit application and international clearance.

Newcastle United were heavily linked with the Spanish forward, but Liverpool reportedly triggered his €40m (£34.7m) release clause to get the move done.

Munoz, who is currently with the Spain squad at the World Cup, becomes Andoni Iraola's first signing and is set to play a prominent role in the 2026-27 season.

Hugo Ekiktike is expected to miss most of the campaign after suffering an Achilles injury in April, while Alexander Isak's fitness is still in question after an injury-hit debut season at Anfield.

Munoz joined Osasuna from Real Madrid last summer, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in 34 appearances for the LaLiga side this term.

He also scored on debut for Spain in March, netting against Serbia, while he could play a role in their second group game at the World Cup against Saudi Arabia.

While Munoz is Liverpool's first summer signing, he will be their second addition to next season's squad, with Jeremy Jaquet completing his move to Anfield in January before spending the remainder of the campaign with Rennes.
