Lyon’s Afonso Moreira to undergo medical with Bayer Leverkusen

Olympique Lyonnais’ Afonso Moreira (21) is set to undergo his medical prior to signing for Bayer Leverkusen, according to reports in L’Équipe.

After several days of negotiations, the management of both clubs have finally reached an agreement on a transfer fee of over €32 million, including bonuses. A percentage of any future capital gain is also said to have been included in the deal.

Whilst he had initially hoped to continue his spell at OL for another season, Moreira has finally agreed – given the club’s need for cash – to move to Germany, where he is set to sign a five-year contract and receive a pay rise.

In any case, the sale of Moreira remains an excellent deal for Lyon, who signed him for €2 million last summer from Sporting CP and have seen the Portuguese player come into his own in France, where he has scored eight goals and provided 11 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.
