Pierre Sage, who last season led RC Lens to glory in the Coupe de France and a second-place finish in Ligue 1, has completed a switch to Crystal Palace.

Sage joined Lens last summer, replacing Will Still on the touchline at the Bollaert. He exceeded expectations, leading the club back into the UEFA Champions League. However, after just one season, he leaves the Ligue 1 club.

It was in the wake of Les Sang et Or’s Coupe de France triumph that he alluded to doubts regarding his future at the club. He revealed that there had already been approaches from clubs. Crystal Palace made the Frenchman, who managed Olympique Lyonnais prior to his stint at Lens, their priority to replace Oliver Glasner. The Austrian’s exit from Selhurst Park was confirmed earlier in the season.

Sage is the man who replaces him and will lead the Premier League club in the UEFA Europa League next season. He has signed a three-year deal, L’Équipe understands.
