Real Betis star Abde Ezzalzouli is widely expected to miss the upcoming World Cup. This comes owing to an injury suffered in training.

Attacker Ez is for his part fresh off a stellar campaign at club level. On the books of the aforementioned Real Betis, the former Barcelona talent took to the pitch on 43 occasions, racking up 15 goals and 13 assists along the way.

Such exploits gave rise to a well-earned place in Morocco’s squad for the World Cup, alongside the likes of Achraf Hakimi and Brahim Díaz.

As alluded to above, though, just days out from the showcase being kicked into gear, Ez’s World Cup dreams have been shattered.

The 24-year-old played his part in Moroccan team training on Sunday, only to pull up suddenly with an injury problem.

And as per an ensuing report on the part of journalist Hanif Ben Berkane:

‘Initial examinations of Abde Ezzalzouli indicate a sprain of the internal knee ligament. He is likely to be OUT for the World Cup. Further examinations will take place, but he should miss 3-4 weeks of competition.’
