Valencia eyeing free agent defender deal
2
The board at La Liga outfit Valencia have set their sights on the signature of Thomas Meunier with a view to the 2026/27 campaign.
This comes with the Belgian considered something of a market opportunity.
Meunier will for his part imminently become available as a free agent, upon the expiration of his contract terms with French outfit LOSC Lille.
Despite his advancing years – he will turn 35 in September – the attack-minded right-back remains held in high regard across the continent, included in Belgium’s World Cup squad for the summer.
And as alluded to above, amongst the clubs giving consideration to a contract offer for Meunier over the coming weeks are Spanish side Valencia.
As per a report from journalist Salva Gomis, amid an ongoing search for reinforcements at full-back at Mestalla:
‘Valencia are considering Thomas Meunier for the right-back position. The plan is to sign two full-backs and have one of them be under 23.’
