With the 2026 World Cup just days away, Germany claimed a relatively straightforward 4-0 win over Finland in an international friendly fixture this evening. A Brace from the impressive Deniz Undav and further strikes from Florian Wirtz alongside Jamal Musiala proved to be the difference over the course of play.

The Mewa Arena in Mainz was treated to some early dominance from Julian Nagelsmann's side. The eighth minute Nathaniel Brown and Florian Wirtz combined down the left to pick out Deniz Undav. Former Leverkusen shot-stopper Lukas Hradecky ultimately tipped it over the bar.

Approaching the half-hour mark, Jamal Musiala teed up the Stuttgart marksman once again, but Hradecky was on hand to deny him. Finland also threatened around this period when Leo Walta's long-range effort from range was blocked by Joshua Kimmich.

However, Germany's breakthrough eventually came and Undav wasn't to be denied for a third occasion. Lennart Karl combined with his club mate Kimmich. The latter whipped a perfect ball into Undav who arrived on time to steer it into the left corner. Just rewards for a dominant first-half display.

Undav would turn provider three minutes after the break and from then the floodgates opened for Julian Nagelsmann's side. Finland's Adam Markhiyev, of 1.FC Nürnberg fame at club level, was picked off by the 29-year-old. From there, he unselfishly squared for Florian Wirtz to tap in.

A third goal of the night fell just before the hour with Borussia Dortmund's Felix Nmecha reading a Finnish pass. Lennart Karl took over and transitioned forward from halfway. The 18-year-old laid off a perfect pass to Undav, waiting in a central position to convincinglu best Hradecky for a second time.

Perhaps one of the biggest cheers of the night came with around 27 minutes remaining. Jamal Musiala. Karl ran himself into a corner but was helped out by Alexander Pavlović. The midfielder whipped a ball in the direction of Musiala to hammer home from 16-metres before Leroy Sane replaced Karl.

Another big roar went up late on as hometown boy Nadiem Amiri made a late appearance off the bench. Nick Woltemade also featured but didn't manage to make much of an impact. Regardless, it was a morale-boosting victory for the four-time World champions who will take on the United States next Saturday.
