Bayer Leverkusen vs Augsburg: Team news and predicted line-up

Bayer Leverkusen will hope to edge closer to the top four places when they face Augsburg this weekend at the BayArena.

Die Werkself enter Matchday 30 of the Bundesliga after picking up a crucial victory over Borussia Dortmund in their previous outing. Robert Andrich’s 42nd-minute strike made the difference as Kasper Hjulmand’s men took their tally to 42 points, just four short of fourth-placed RB Leipzig.

Leverkusen are set to have Jarell Quansah back on the pitch. The Englishman completed full training sessions following a three-week hiatus due to a thigh injury. Andrich and Edmond Tapsoba will partner with him in a three-man defence. Exequiel Palacios and Aleix García are set to keep their starting places in the midfield. Martin Terrier’s injury means that Ibrahim Maza and Nathan Tella will feature behind striker Patrik Schick.

With 33 points in 10th place, Augsburg are well clear of the relegation zone by eight points. Unless something goes drastically wrong, Manuel Baum’s side should finish comfortably in the mid-table. Fuggerstädter won 2-0 in the home reverse against Leverkusen in December last year, but their recent run of results does not suggest getting the three points from this one.

Chrislain Matsima continues to recover from a torn hamstring injury. Robin Fellhauer and Fabian Rieder will start in midfield.
