Relegation could lead to several big departures at cash-strapped Gladbach

In the event the Foals do face the drop, the reduction in financial windfall would result in several key players likely needed to be sold.

A mass forced exodus of players could unfold should Borussia Mönchengladbach be relegated from the Bundesliga, BILD believes.

Although current sat in 14th-place and and five points clear of FC St. Pauli in the relegation play-off spot, a swing in fortunes could be drastic.

Should relegation occur, salaries would be halved; but even if halved, the players' wages would still be extremely expensive for the club.

Missing out on the significant revenue which comes from the German topflight would likely result in several more departures.

Nico Elvedi, Robin Hack, Tim Kleindienst and Florian Neuhaus are among Gladbach's top earners and would likely be cashed in.

Sporting director Schröder recently stated that selling players would also be necessary if the club wanted to make any acquisitions.

The Rhineland side are interested in keeping Haris Tabakovic and Yannick Engelhardt, but this would desperately require more revenue.

Meanwhile, despite getting full support just a month ago, Eugen Polanski's work with Gladbach is also now questioned heavily.
