Guardiola keeps his counsel on contentious Man City penalty calls in Forest draw

Pep Guardiola kept his cards close to his chest when asked about a couple of questionable penalty decisions that went against Manchester City in their 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.

Antoine Semenyo and Rodri twice put City in front at the Etihad Stadium, only for Morgan Gibbs-White and Elliot Anderson to respond with brilliant efforts for Forest.

However, City twice felt they should have had a penalty, once when Erling Haaland tried to round goalkeeper Matz Sels, and another when Rodri collided with Anderson when dragging a shot wide in a frenetic ending.

Referee Darren England decided neither was a spot-kick, and the VAR opted not to advise him to go to the pitch-side monitor.

However, when asked about the incidents by TNT Sports, City boss Guardiola merely said: "I have nothing to say."

When pressed again, he merely shook his head and said: "Nothing."

The draw puts an end to City's seven-match winning run at home across all competitions, with this match also the first time they have conceded at least two goals at the Etihad since November 2025 (versus Leeds United), ending a run of 12 consecutive matches conceding one goal or fewer.

City led 1-0 at half-time, meaning they have now led at the break in each of their last 11 home Premier League matches, their second-longest run of consecutive half-time leads at home in the competition, only behind a run of 12 between May 2023 and January 2024.

They had chances to win it in stopage time, with Semenyo coming close from a free-kick before Savinho saw a last-gasp effort cleared off the line.

But the draw means they slip seven points behind leaders Arsenal, albeit they do have a game in hand.

"There are a lot of games to play, so we have to continue," Guardiola said.

"We are disappointed for the result. We did everything again. We had the chances at the end, especially, but yeah, we keep going.

"Of course, a game at home, at this stage of the season, it's important, but keep going, we have time to look back and look forward.

"Now it's onto Newcastle [United] in the FA Cup, Real Madrid in the Champions League, and we go game by game."
