Marseille’s Angel Gomes subject of Premier League interest

Just months after arriving on a free transfer, Angel Gomes (25) is being strongly linked with a departure from Olympique de Marseille.

The England international arrived from Lille OSC over the summer but has yet to replicate the form he showed with Les Dogues. That form saw him briefly trialled by the Three Lions and the hope was that a move to the Vélodrome would bolster his chances of a recall in this World Cup year.

But that has not yet happened. Since arriving at the Vélodrome, Gomes has yet to establish himself as a first-choice pick. He has yet to start a game in the UEFA Champions League and, despite starting 12 Ligue 1 games, he has not appeared in the last three.

A departure this month is now on the cards, according to a report from **L’Équipe. **Premier League clubs have enquired about the Manchester United academy product.
