Solid Villarreal Blank Getafe in 2-0 Win

Villarreal hosted Getafe in Round 12 of LaLiga at the Estadio de la Cerámica on 8 November 2026, with cloudy skies and a temperature of 18 degrees greeting the 17,102 spectators. The visitors, set up in a disciplined 4-1-4-1 by José Bordalás, kept the hosts at bay for long spells, but two second-half goals — Tajon Buchanan's opener on 80 minutes and Carlos Romero's stoppage-time clincher, both supplied by substitutes — saw Íñigo Pérez's 4-2-3-1 side take all three points without conceding. Getafe goalkeeper David Soria was among the busiest men on the pitch (rated 8.4), while Villarreal's Pape Gueye earned Player of the Match honours (8.4) for a commanding midfield display. Referee Carlos Muñiz Muñoz, in a match that produced four yellow cards and a good deal of physicality, kept control throughout.
